Over the past few decades there has been a revolution in computing and communication. Machines that once occupied whole rooms have moved to the desktop, the lap and palm and into clothing itself. Stand-alone systems are now network with each other and a wide range of different devices across vast distances. One of the consequences of this revolution is an explosion in New Media technologies. New media is one of the main developments that emerged as a product of the technological, intellectual, and cultural innovations of the late 20th century.

DIME-Arts is a culmination of the growth in interactive media and entertainment industries on the region, underlining the importance of creating new business opportunities and also facilitating exchange and collaborations for the global community. DIME-Arts provide the platform for the presentation of international research and developments in the heart of Asia. The proceedings includes the keynotes of renewed experts on the area as media artist Christa Sommerer, world famous for her pioneer research on art and artificial life and media theorist Machiko Kusahara who explores the new categories and definitions that identify the creative process, methods and artworks on this moment where creation and technical development are mix together. One of the main goals of DIME-Arts is to offer a critical framework for rethinking contemporary art practice at the intersection of art, science, technology and society.
